It's been while since I've bragged on the Arizona Great Dane Drill Team, not for lack of pride (or accomplishments), but more from lack of time. We're still going strong, marching along and having a great time playing with our dogs. Our purpose is to help encourage and educate the public about the benefits of obedience training for all dogs. We firmly believe that obedience trained dogs are much less likely to become just another number in the unwanted/abandoned animal statistics. We feel that if only one person who sees us perform takes their dog to a training class or checks out a training book from their local library then we have succeeded.

IOctober we performed at the Great Dane Club of America 2002 Nationals, incorporating many excellent obedience dogs from throughout the country mixed in with our team dogs and handlers. We had 5 fun filled days of squeezing in practices amongst all the hustle and bustle of events and competitions to teach the "new" members a choreographed routine to the song "Elephant Walk" and work out pieces of the show to highlight what obedience training is all about.  We preformed for about 45 minutes showing off various obedience routines, comic skits and musical numbers. It was quite a exciting challenge as we not only had new handlers and dogs to work with but some of our team members were working with borrowed dogs, one of which was just 6 months old!
